Lake Tahoe photoLake Tahoe is an enormous freshwater lake located in the Sierra Nevadas, situated between California and Nevada. It is also popularly called the “Hetch Hetchy of the West” or the “Queen of the Pacific Coast.” It is a very popular skiing destination, known for its snow-capped mountains and vast valleys. The main towns and cities of this lake are Silverton, Tahoe City, and Lake Forest. Its famous resorts include the Tahoe Hotel and Casino, Tahoe Rim Hotel and Casino, and the Hilton on Lake Tahoe.

There are five lakes in the area and each lake has different features. The largest lake is Lake Tahoe itself, which is the largest freshwater body in the United States. There are four main areas in this lake and they include the South Lake Tahoe Central District, the East Lake Tahoe Central District, the North Lake Tahoe Central District, and the North Lake Tahoe Central District. All of these areas offer a variety of recreational activities for the visitors.

One of the best things about Lake Tahoe, is that it does not have a coastline. This means that the weather is always good all year around. The North Lake Tahoe area provides year-round skiing, snowboarding, and hiking. The South Lake Tahoe area offers golfing, hiking, and kayaking. The East Lake Tahoe area is more popular with outdoor lovers. Some popular winter sports include ice fishing, white water rafting, and sledding. Other popular winter activities include snowmobiling and snowshoeing.
